Re: Repeal Property Code 105-2 and Special Election

Yesterday, the group, “Repeal Property Code 105–2,” submitted it's petition to the county so that a special election may be held to vote on the repeal of the Jonesboro Property Maintenance Code. We believe this special election will be held in conjunction with another special election already called by the Jonesboro City Council on May 10, 2016.

The extraordinary act of the residents of Jonesboro to sign the repeal petition to put this property maintenance code on the ballot is a testament to the people of the city of Jonesboro and the more than 60 canvassers who helped collect more than 5000 signatures, of which the Jonesboro City Clerk deemed more than 3600 valid.

This extraordinary act by the people of Jonesboro speaks loudly to the people's willingness to stand up to the City Council when they approve a measure that is not supported by the people. The group asks all voters of the city of Jonesboro to come out to the special election, and vote for repeal of the Jonesboro Property Maintenance Code.
