In Case You Forgot: Mike Ross Voted For Failed Stimulus Programs Which Wasted $1 Trillion

Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Mike Ross, voted for and defended President Obama’s failed Stimulus Package as a member of Congress. (HR 1, Vote 46, 1-28-09; HR 1, Vote 70, 2/13/09.

Where some of that WASTED money went:
  • $535 Million investment in Solyndra, whose biggest investor, George Kaiser, was a bundler for the Obama campaign, filed for bankruptcy two years later. At least four other companies received stimulus money only to later file for bankruptcy, including Olsen’s Mills Acquisition Co., which received $10 million to increase employment, and Evergreen Solar Inc., which received $5.3 million to install 11,000 photovoltaic panels.
  • $762,372 for the University of North Carolina to develop an interactive dance software
  • $554,763 for the U.S. Forest Service to replace the windows in a visitor center that was closed in 2007
  • $62 Million for a rail extension in Pittsburgh to get to professional sports stadiums and a casino
  • $1.2 Million for an abandoned train station to be converted into a Museum in New Jersey
  • $1.9 Million to analyze exotic ants in San Francisco
  • $199,862 to help Siberians lobby Russian policymakers
  • $298,543 to study weather predictions for other planets
  • $529,648 to study the effect of local populations on the the Himalayas
  • $25.8 Million for a public relations firm in New York City
  • $1.2 Million for research into marketing video games to the elderly
  • $341,000 to plant palm trees in Fresno
  • $1 Million for bus station art in Los Angeles
