Westerman Announces Immigration Policy

Holding the President accountable; Operational control of border touted

HOT SPRINGS -- Former Arkansas House Majority Leader and Fourth District Congressional Candidate Bruce Westerman (R-Hot Springs) today released the following statement announcing his immigration policy for the 114th Congress:

"Despite the failed policies of the Obama Administration, America is still the shining city on the hill that President Reagan once saw.  Our nation is home to tremendous opportunity for those who wish to come to America, work hard and obey our laws.  In Congress, I will fight to ensure President Obama enforces existing immigration laws while establishing and maintaining operational control of our borders.

"Only when operational control is maintained for a sufficient period should Congress undertake any effort for reform.  I remain opposed to amnesty, including a special pathway to citizenship, as it ignores the rule of law."
