Does Senator Pryor Side With President Clinton on DOMA?

Just Days Before His Fundraiser with Mark Pryor, Bill Clinton Flip-Flops on Defense of Marriage Act
Mark Pryor: Gay or Straight Vows
Little Rock. Ark. – The Republican Party of Arkansas is calling on Senator Mark Pryor to clearly articulate whether or not he agrees with the views expressed by President Clinton last week on the subject of gay marriage and the Defense of Marriage Act.

Just days before his March 16th fundraiser with Senator Mark Pryor, former President Bill Clinton has penned an op-ed in the Washington Post urging the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which Clinton signed into law in 1996.

Senator Pryor, who has claimed in the past to support DOMA (despite opposing a Federal Marriage Amendment), will hold a high-dollar cocktail reception with President Clinton on Saturday.

Republican Party Spokesman David Ray says that Senator Pryor has some explaining to do: “Arkansans deserve to know whether Mark Pryor has ‘evolved’ on the definition of marriage like Presidents Clinton and Obama have in recent days. If he’s going to saddle up next to President Clinton and raise money for his re-election, the voters deserve to know if he shares the same views as his most prominent campaign surrogate.”

Ray continued: “We realize Senator Pryor doesn’t want Arkansans to know just how out-of-touch he really is, but we won’t stop asking these questions until he gives us a straight answer.”
