Another Veto Override and RPA Event

David Ray, RPA Communications Director:This was another very busy week at the Arkansas Capitol, and there are even more developments just around the corner. Here’s a summary of the major action this week in the state of Arkansas:

2nd Veto Override Produces Another Pro-life Victory
Senator Jason Rapert’s (District 35) bill SB134 was vetoed by the Governor, but the override made national news as Arkansas passed the strongest protections for life of any state in the country. As a result of this bipartisan veto override, abortions will now be prohibited after 12 weeks in Arkansas.

House & Senate Republicans Protect the Integrity of Our Elections
Senator Bryan King (District 5) has sponsored SB2, which would require photo ID in order to vote. Currently, election workers must ask for voters to show their ID, but amazingly, the voters aren’t required to show it. Even though Democrats are staunchly opposing this bill, our legislators are working hard to get it passed into law.
