77% of Americans Support Voter ID

by David Ray, RPA Communications Director: Today is Good Friday, the day that Christians across the world observe the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. From all of us at the Arkansas GOP, we wish you and your family a happy and safe Easter weekend. Here’s a wrap-up of this week’s happenings.

Voter ID one step away from becoming law
As of this moment, we’re only one step away from overriding the Governor’s veto of voter ID legislation. The bill would simply require voters to present a photo ID to verify their identity when they go to vote. The State Senate overrode the veto on Wednesday, and the State House will vote next week.

Pew Research recently found that 77% of Americans nation-wide support voter ID laws. Despite strong Democratic opposition, we were finally able to enact this commonsense measure to strengthen the integrity of our election process. You can read about the Senate veto override HERE.

Arkansas GOP Scholarship
If you are a College Republican or know a College Republican, the deadline is almost here to apply for the Elizabeth G. Redman Scholarship. April 1st is the deadline to apply, so visit our website for details today.

In Case You Missed It
The Majority Celebration Thursday night was an overwhelming success. Over 200 of you from all across the state came out to support our party and our new majority. If you weren’t able to make it, you can watch some of the speeches online. Congressman Womack, Congressman Crawford, and Congressman Griffin all gave great remarks.

In the News…
Congressman Steve Womack sat down with KNWA to talk about the budget, spending, and much, much more.

If you’re not already, be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

Have a blessed Easter weekend everybody.
