Attorney General Dustin McDaniel Remains Out of Touch As Supreme Court Takes Up Obamacare

Republican Party of Arkansas, Little Rock, Ark. – As President Barack Obama’s health care law goes before the U.S. Supreme Court today, Republican Party of Arkansas Chairman Doyle Webb released the following statement on Attorney General Dustin McDaniel’s refusal to join the lawsuit challenging Obamacare’s constitutionality:

“As the lawsuit Attorney General Dustin McDaniel has called ‘frivolous’ comes before our nation’s highest court today, obviously Attorney General McDaniel is out of touch with the people of Arkansas and America who want the Supreme Court to end Obamacare. Sadly, McDaniel joins other Arkansas Democrats who are ‘working hard’ to implement Obamacare in our state, including members of the Legislature and senior Democratic U.S. Senator Mark Pryor.

“With the overwhelming majority of Arkansans in opposition to the President’s health care overhaul, state Democrats are clearly on the losing side of this issue and will pay for it in November no matter what the Court decides.

“We must end Obamacare one way or another before it makes health care unaffordable, destroys our small businesses and robs Americans of individual liberty and the sacred relationship between a patient and doctor. Electing Republicans in November is the only way to ensure that Arkansans are protected from a federal law that puts important health care choices in the hands government bureaucrats.”

“McDaniel said he believes the U.S. Supreme Court will uphold the law, but if it rules otherwise, he will work to ensure that Arkansas complies with the ruling.” (John Lyon, “McDaniel to Darr: State won’t sue over health care law,” Arkansas News Bureau, 12/17/10)

Legislative Democrats Argue Constitutionality of Obamacare in Supreme Court Brief, are "Working Hard" to Implement in Arkansas
“Amici Curiae, a group of 518 State Legislators from all 50 States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, believe that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“the Act”) is constitutional and are working hard in their States to implement the Act in a timely, efficient, and effective manner. They have a substantial interest in having this matter resolved expeditiously and in favor of the constitutionality of the Act.” (Source: Supreme Court Brief – US Department of Health Human Services v Florida)
