Arkansans on Health Care

I've called Marion Berry's office numerous times in the past few weeks asking for statements on the multitude of left-wing, radical bills being rushed through Congress. The best I've gotten is a vague response that never really answered my questions from the person who answered the phone. Other times I was put through to the press secretary's voice mail where I left a detailed message and my contact information.

Not one time has Berry's office returned my calls to address my concerns. So I still don't know exactly where he stands on Obama's attempts to seize control of our health care system. Since the folks who answer the phone in his office have gotten an earful from me more than once, I assume he doesn't agree with my position. Otherwise, you'd think his employees would be quick to point that out. I've asked specifically, "Will you vote for a bill that includes a government insurance option?" No answer.

If it's the case that he wouldn't mind a government run health care system, that he'd be okay with the demise of all private insurance companies, that it'll be okay with him if seniors are just left to die once they reach a certain age, and that we will have to wait days, weeks, or months to get the care we now get almost immediately...he'd better start paying more attention to what Arkansans want.

Yesterday, TalkBusiness.net released a poll that shows Arkansas voters are light years away from Obama and the Democrats when it comes to health care reform. Take a look at some of the questions and the results.

Question: Overall, how satisfied are you with the quality of health care that you and your family receive (ROTATE)?
Very Satisfied	46%
Somewhat Satisfied	40%
Somewhat Dissatisfied	9%
Very Dissatisfied	5%
Don’t Know	0%

So 86% of Arkansans are at least somewhat satisfied with the current system. Only 14% are less than satisfied.

Question: Would you prefer a health care system where most Americans get their health care coverage through the federal government or a system where most Americans get their health care coverage through a private insurance provider (ROTATE)?
Federal Government Provider	16%
Private Insurance Provider	74%
Don’t Know	10%

How about that? Fully 74% trust private insurance carriers more than Obama to administer their health care plans.

Question:Would you prefer a health care plan that raises taxes in order to provide health insurance to all Americans or a plan that does not provide health insurance to all Americans but keeps taxes at current levels?

Once again we see Arkansas voters distancing themselves from the Democratic pack on Capitol Hill. Call, write or email Congressman Berry and let him know that Arkansans don't want Obamacare!
